Zoo Rostock
Rostock Zoo is the largest zoo on the German Baltic Sea coast. With over 4500 animals and 320 different species, you will encounter everything from cheetahs and jaguars to polar bears or exotic birds. The enclosures are designed as close to nature as possible and are embedded in a unique park landscape with a variety of botanical features.
At DARWINEUM you will go on a time travel adventure. The lively museum offers environmental and scientific education to touch, participate, and think. Two interactive exhibition areas show the biological diversity of life in the course of evolution. The different time periods “hide” in a spacious enclosure with prehistoric landscape and animal images. One highlight is definitely Europe´s largest jellyfish tank.
The highlight of DARWINEUM is the tropical hall, the new home for gorillas and orangutans. The great apes live here together with brazza monkeys and gibbons in a near-natural habitat.
Rostock Zoo is one of the most popular holiday destinations in northern Germany, winning the “family-friendly institution“ certificate several times.
