Discover Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Mecklenburg Lakes
Your trip to the Mecklenburg Lakes will be an unforgettable experience. Here you will find the largest contiguous area of lakes in Europe. The more than 1,000 large and small lakes are connected by rivers and canals. Our advice: A boat ride from the charming town of goods at the Müritz, the largest lake in Germany. The Müritz National Park offers a unique experience in the natural way "sensations" are few and far reaching, but only he who makes himself with quiet, smooth soles on the search, discover. On display are magnificent beech forests, the nests of the osprey, the beds of the cranes and the mysterious world of Moore.
German Baltic coast with Rostock, Warnemünde and Kühlungsborn
The Hanseatic city of Rostock is again and again a popular destination. Either strolling comfortably through the beautiful shopping streets or make a journey through the lovely historic city center. Get inspired by a walk through the inner city of Warnemünde, along the Alten Strom and a walk along the promenade to get enchanted by the special flair of this seaside resort town. Subsequently you can make a beautiful tour from Bad Doberan with the train (Schmalspurbahn) "Molli" via Heiligendamm to Kühlungsborn. This seaside resort has done a lot in the last couple of years, to repossess the old glance of years past. The promenade with its cosy restaurants and cafés, new shopping malls and the nicely designed parks attracts a steadily increasing stream of visitors. Also a stroll along the promenade is wonderful.
Fischland and the Darß
The peninsula to the north of Ribnitz-Damgarten sprawls out between the Bodden and the Baltic Sea. From Wustrow you can make a steamer trip in the Nationalpark „Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft“. Discover the typical Bodden landscape with wonderful fishing villages, the Darßer Forest and a few of the popular holiday destinations, like Prerow, Ahrenshoop and Wustrow.
Isle of Rügen
The biggest and most beautiful Baltic Isle is pure nature. Surrounded by sea, the indented coast with its lagoons, ports and bays, measures more than 500 kilometers. Here you will find imposing cliffs, nature reserves with rare plants and animals, as well as seaside resorts with beautiful white sandy beaches. We recommend a trip through the southeastern part of the isle via Putbus, through the Granitz to Binz and along the coast via Saßnitz to Stubbenkammer. Enjoy our magnificent view from the „Königsstuhl“ (with a height of 117 meters) over the Baltic Sea.
State capital Schwerin
The state capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is again and again a popular destination. Throughout the years the city landscape has changed a lot, where historic and modern meet. You can start your city trip with a visit to the Schwerin Schloss. Sights worth seeing are also the exceptional beautiful historic city center, the Marstall as well as the Schwerin State Theatre. A boat trip with the Weißen Flotte on the Schwerin Lakes is also a must. You can drink your coffee in the newly reconstructed„Turm-Café“ on the Schwerin "Fernsehturm".
Nature Park Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide
Between Krakow am See, Waren, Dobbertin and Goldberg the Nature Park Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide sprawls out covering an area of 36.500 ha. The wealth of different habitats, such as hidden lakes, secretive mires, and streams, makes it possible for the animals and plants to survive in this particular natural circumstances. You might see circulating white tailed eagles, cranes, waterbirds and roaring stags in the autumn forest by visiting the Nature Park.
